 | Katharine Cole holds a degree in music with classical vocal specialization from the University of California Los Angeles. She is a voting member of NARAS (Grammy), Musicians Local 42, BMI, the Americana Music Association and NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Assoc. International).

| In the early 1980’s, she became part of the San Francisco rock scene as bassist and lead vocalist of the punk band “Dogtown”. Dogtown opened for the Dead Kennedy's at the Civic Center in San Francisco, X at the Whiskey, and The Bus Boys at Cal State LA in 1984. |  |
|  | She moved to Hollywood in 1984 and for the next six years, she became well known as a singer/songwriter and vocalist. She became a sought after demo singer, recording many cuts for Wes Arkeen, principal songwriter for Guns ‘n Roses, played bass in the art band “Painting Over Picasso”, and appeared with her band “Katchase” in every major club on the Hollywood hard rock circuit. |
| Cole (then Katharine ‘Chase’) relocated to the Bay Area and in 1990, she became a pioneer of the new Americana scene, first as lead singer and writer for the band “Spanking Violets”. Their self-named CD release gained national college airplay and the broke many a house bar record at San Francisco clubs. |  |
|  | Performing in The Katharine Chase Band, Cole gained national airplay for her first solo CD “The Truth” released by Marquee/MCA Records in 1997 and produced by Fantasy Studio’s Jeffrey Wood.” The Truth” received solid college airplay both the in the United States, Australia, and Mexico, and continues to be a presence on the internet. She opened for Hootie & The Blowfish at Great American Music Hall, Amanda Marshall, Third Eye Blind, Train, Cake and other nationally-recognized recording artists. |
| After touring Europe and the American East Coast as bassist and backing vocalist to WEA/Reprise’s Penelope Houston, she returned to the San Francisco acoustic scene releasing her sixth CD, “Little Brown Bag” on the Mentl Music label. Cole also enjoyed booking several local Bay Area venues, as well as hosting the popular SF Song Cycle at San Francisco’s famous Dolores Park Cafe. During this period, she performed with artists like Deborah Pardes, Garrin Benfield, Forrest Sun, Erica Luckett, Austin Willacy, Ellis, Jill Tracy, Terese Taylor, and Vienna Teng.

|  | In 1999, she joined Dawn Richardson of 4 Non Blondes, Carrie Baum of Soul Divine, and later guitar icon Shelley Doty, co-writing as vocalist and bassist, for the rocktronica trio “Kindness”, releasing two independent CDs under that moniker.

| For the past seven years, she has imersered herself in the Americana country western scene as singing cowgirl “Kitty Rose”, releasing two popular CDs, “Kitty Rose Greatest Hits!” (2005) and this year’s “Kitty Rose Live at The Ryman”. Cole opened for Kirs Kristofferson, Aaron Tippen at Konocti Harbor and performed at the Blue Bird Cafe, Tootsies, and Americana Tonight!, in Nashville, TN, as well as appearing at NXNE, Toronto, Canada, The Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Michigan Women's Festival. She will be inducted into the Traditional Music Hall of Fame in August 2008.
