Katharine Cole began her career in music with her first nationally published song at age thirteen. She became one of the pioneers of the San Francisco Americana rock scene in the early 1990's, first as lead singer and writer for the band “Spanking Violets”, then gaining national airplay for her first solo CD (then known as Katharine Chase) “The Truth” released by Marquee/MCA Records in 1997. In 1999, she joined Dawn Richardson of 4 Non Blondes and Carrie Baum of Soul Divine, co-writing as vocalist and bassist, for the rocktronica trio “Kindness”, releasing two original CDs under that moniker. For the next seven years, she emersed herself in the burgeoning country western scene as “Kitty Rose”, releasing two popular CDs, “Kitty Rose Greatest Hits!” (2005) and “Kitty Rose Live at The Ryman”. In 2012, she will release the third Kitty Rose CD "The Legend of Kitty Rose". She currently has returned to playing bass in several Bay Area projects, and is a popular DJ on KZYX&Z, Mendocino County. |
